Chicken garden

I am in the midst of making a chicken garden in my run and I was wondering what other plants to put in the run with the oregano that I planted today. The run is quite big so I have room the plant anything. And I'm looking for plants that prevent diseases or encourage wanted behaviour from my chickens

Confined chickens will destroy anything green. You can plant greens around the run and let chickens eat what grows through the fence, but roots has to be outside.

I'm covering them with a crate while they get strong and once they've spread enough I'll let the chooks at them

One option is to build (create) grazing boxes inside the coop, with soil level about an inch below the top and then covered with 1/2" HWC. Toss in the seeds, and when they sprout and grow through the HWC, the chickens can graze on them without (usually) pulling them out by their roots.

Of course, then you get to worry about toes on HWC.

I plant stuff right outside the run and let it grow through the mesh. I started with plants inside, and yeah... everyone can guess how that went.

Favorites are lemon balm, catmint, and marigolds. Enrichment is the most surefire health benefit IMO.
