Chicken gasping- sign of pain?

Oh! I have one more question if anyone is able to answer.. my chicken makes a sound like a dog whining/crying. Is this pain? She has done this since she was tiny. Exactly like a dog whining. Any experience with this?

It is hard to know if she is whining or what the noise it. Chickens can make a lot of different sounds and vocalizations which can be different in each chicken. If you can upload a short video to YouTube or Vimeo with a link posted here of her making the sound, it might help. I would not splint the legs at this point. There is no correcting a twisted tibia, and at this age since it has been that way for awhile, splinting could hurt or give her more pain.

I’ll try to record it tomorrow. Thanks for the reply. What do you think about just vet-wrapping her legs so her bad leg doesn’t painfully shoot out to the side every step she takes? Or should I just let her get on with it... I’ll video tomorrow so you can hear and see her!

Thanks again, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Goodnight from rainy London!
