Hello, One of my Colombian Wyandottes ran away, and we thought she had a clutch somewhere because every few days she'd come back to eat and then disappear again. This has been going on for almost three weeks.
We eventually found the clutch, it is underneath my brother's balcony. There is a space under the balcony that has dirt that is being covered by a tarp. I looked under the tarp and found my hen laying on something. Today, I saw her run out from under the balcony, so I went and got a flash light and took a peek to see if she laid eggs. She has been laying on one of my pink plastic ponies. There were no eggs at all.
Do you know why she did that? When hens go broody, do they stop laying eggs? In all that time, she doesn't seem to have laid any eggs at all.
Thanks!!
