One of my hens started doing this today and we don’t have a bird vet around us so I’m looking for opinions/ experiences on what this could be? I separated her from everyone else for now, in case it’s something serious and/or contagious. She’s mainly acting normal - walking around, squawking, eating and drinking. But she randomly makes gurgling or gasping sounds and will sneeze or cough? I don’t see any runny nose, but around her face looks irritated or redder than normal. I will try to attach a video if I can figure out how to do that - LOL. Thanks for your help

How is her crop?

She sure is a cutie. I hope we can help.

Her crop feels soft and kind of big like abnormally big? Sorry I’m not real good at this I’m still learning but have had chickens for 3 years and never had an issue! I’ve dealt with one impacted crop hard as heck but this is total opposite. I feel so bad for her! I did chuckle slightly when she kept drinking and then staring at me in the video lol

Sounds like it might be sour crop. Does her breath stink?

Sour crop is what happens when her crop doesn't empty, and all the contents go sour. It's usually a yeast infection. You can treat it with monistat given orally or with medistatin (for birds).

In my experience, crop problems are usually a symptom of something else, like infection. Are there any other symptoms?
