One of our two hens has developed a severe limp that's gone on for about 4 weeks now, it's not bumble foot as we've checked and
the foot has been cleaned and bandaged to see if it would help her walk but it hasn't, she's still eating and drinking as normal but can hardly move. The leg doesn't feel broken and there's no wound visible, apparently she could be egg-bound but she's laid a few eggs so I don't think that's the problem.
About a week ago the foot started to look as if it was going black, we cleaned her up again but saw no improvements in the colour, I spoke to my cousin (a farmer who has lots of chickens) who said it could be marek's disease? and it was best to cull the chicken if it doesn't improve in another week, anyone got any advice on what it could be and how to treat it, none of the family want to do the job if it comes to it but i'm not paying the vet £65 for an injection.
I can upload some photos if it would help.
Thanks
