Chicken has an infected eye. HELP!

My chicken has had this infection for about five days and i have been applying veterecyn to the are but there seems to be little progress. There is a bad smell but no leaking puss.

With the bad smell and swollen puss filled eye I would think you are dealing with infectious coryza. Do you know what the lump on the eyelid is from--maybe a peck? Have you had any fowl pox lately in the flock? I would get some sulfadimethoxine (Di-Methox or Albon, or SulfamedG) powder or liquid and medicate for 5 days. If you can't find that get some Sulmet. It looked more like a wart to me but the vetercyn almost completely got rid of it. However, the eye is still swollen shut. Do you know of anyplace that might sell the medicine you have suggested?

Should I pop the infection? Or apply the medicine only?

Some people recommend getting hardened pus out of the eyes, but I don't have experience doing this. I just know some of the drugs to use. After reading the links, have you thought about culling since this is a carrier disease? Many people have mycoplasma positive flocks, but coryza seems to be a disease that more people tend to cull rather than treat. It can spread to your other birds and is never cured completely.
