Chicken has hatched two eggs out of 12 on Sunday, BUT I cracked one of the eggs yesterday...........

So after three days of no other eggs hatching I decided to crack one of the eggs to make sure it wasn't spoiled, and there was a live chick inside. I checked again today [pulled the hen off the eggs], and cracked another, and yep, another live chick that died shortly after.

I don't remember there being that much of a gap between eggs hatching [maybe a day from one hatching to all of them hatching].

To sum it up. The hen is still sitting on eggs for which two hatched four days ago [out of 12] with the other eggs still having living unhatched chicks.

Should we just let the hen keep sitting on the eggs?

Did you add eggs to her nest? Did she lay another or take another hen's egg/s? I would check them often for movement, pip etc. Did you candle any of them? I am a novice, going into my third year.

I had the same with some of mine but I did not Crack I let them tell day I thing 24-25? No signs of movement but I think the other chicks kicked them around to much.

Well they were incubator
