Chicken has one eye closed?

I noticed today that my one year old leghorn hen has one eye open. She alternates between closing and opening it. It’s not swollen and there’s no pus leaking out of it. She’s noting showing any respiratory systems either so I think I can rule that out. Nothing appears to be in her eye. Although the lid is a tiny bit red. I was thinking dust or debris got into it? Should I use saline to wash and monitor her? If so, what should I use TIA!

Can you tell if the redness is from being pecked or perhaps an insect bite? The photo is not clear enough to see.

It won't hurt to rinse the eye with saline to see if that helps. If you wish, after rinsing the eye really well, you can put a dot of Terramycin eye ointment in the eye.
