We had an unexpected pregnancy...my mama duck and bantam hen took turns sitting, now I have baby ducks. I am leaving to go out of town for a few days tomorrow and just discovered this. My concern is since she is so small, can she defend them from the other chickens and ducks or should I separate them at least until I get back? I have a small pen, sort of like a rabbit hutch that I could put mama and babies in. I didn't know if it would be better to pet them all acclimate instead of moving them out then back in.My boys will just die if something happens while we are gone!

Have you watched how it's going? Some hens are good at protecting their offspring, others not so much.
I decided to separate at least until i get back, as mom will be chicken-tending while I'm gone. My young rooster started pecking at the baby, so I'm putting mama and babies separate for a while.
