Chicken Hate Crimes

I have about 40 hens all in the same encloser. lately all of the hens have been ganging up on one hen in particular and last time they attacker her they pecked off the top of her skull. I want to know why the heck they would do that because now ill have to put the poor thing down....

Sorry to hear about your hen. Can you make their area larger?

They do make little goggle things to put on the bully hens so that they can't see well enough to aim when they're picking on others but I don't remember what they're called.

Yes, how large is the enclosure? For that many birds you'd need an absolute minimum of 160 square feet, and even then they might still hurt/cannibalize each other. That's only four feet per bird, sounds pretty crowded to me.
