Chicken head explosion

about a month ago i had a chicken (one chicken) when i was in the pen and i was feeding him and a turn around for a second when i here a soft pop and i spin back around to see his body laying on the ground with out a head i have yet to get a new chicken does anyone know what happened should i get a new chicken or is this a sign from god that i should not get a new serama
