One of my chickens was bleeding black on the top of her head, it looks like she is missing the top part of her skull and has baldness.. When you look at her from the side it looks horrific like she is missing part of her head.. I realized it was the rooster bc she has been afraid of him and avoiding him.. She was acting normal, pecking around like normal but I am very concerned.. All I have on hand is saline spray so I soaked a cotton ball and tried to squeeze some onto the top of her head. I am horrified. I have her separated in a cage tonight w/my mallard duck bc she is friendly and wont harm her... I don't know what to do for my hen, I cant take her to a vet and I am limited to only getting supplies from TSC.. I know this is very serious and any advice would be greatly appreciated..

I don't have a lot of information, except I would NOT put any thing that could seep into the hen's head if she has or may have a puncture in her skull. Perhaps cover with a bandage where the puncture in the skull is.
Hopefully someone with experience with this type of serious injury will be able to give you more information.
@casportpony can you provide help or point this member in the right direction?
@The Moonshiner any help you can provide?
@Overo Mare any help you can provide?
:frow Welcome from New Orleans. I hope thinks work out for your chicken.

Thank you.. I am in the ER myself right now for lyme disease from a tick bite but have been worried about my hen researching online while I wait for the dr to come in and haven't found much solace in what I'm finding.. I'm hoping for good news for both of us...

Sending you and your hen thoughts and prayers that all works out well for you both. I am so sorry you are having such a bad day. :hugs
