Chicken Hobby

I was thinking.... maybe I could start a little chicken selling/breeding hobby. I've always wondering if I could do that, but I've never had a rooster....until now.
He is a BBROEG bantam, and his name is Truce. He is a good little guy. I have 4 bantam pullets as well. I think I have 2 BB Reds and 1 Dutch Bantam and 1 confirmed Silver Duckwing bantam. They are about 10 weeks old right now.
What do you guys think?

Thanks! Do any of you have any advice or something? I'm a little nervous....and I probably need some help, so..... Hopefully I'll be getting started by the end of June.

It's a great idea!!! You could sell eggs and chicks (if you have an incubator), and make a lot of profit of you'll have buyers.

Wow, I never got the notification that you tagged me on this thread...

I think that breeding would be good if you have a coop to support the chicks and stuff. I'd wait till next year, and let a bantam go broody to save on the light bill and some other worries. A backup incubator would probably be helpful if you wanted it. As far as the breeding part, if possible, keep Truce and the BB Red hen together to get pure eggs. If not, you'll get hybrids and barnyard mixes that some people might not want. (From what I've seen when it comes to bantams, people, including me, want pure, not barnyard mixes. ) If there's anything else you'd like to know, always feel free to ask me.
