Miss Wendi-go joined Miss Lucy about a month ago. Lucy is definitely the dominant hen. It took them awhile to get used to each other, but now they will eat and roost together. Wendi still hasn't laid an egg. She was supposed to be about a year old when I got her. She is an Ameracauna and seems to be very happy and healthy. She talks to me every time I am around and is acting normal in every way. She shows no signs of being egg bound and was laying before she came to live with us. I thought about separating them again. I have two areas of food and water and a separate laying area, if she feels insecure. I really don't know what else to do. I know Ameracaunas don't usually lay like a RIR, but shouldn't she be laying by now?

Is it possible that she is laying and her eggs are brown and not blue? I did notice than one egg was much lighter than usual.

Is it just the two chickens you have? If so, then count how many brown eggs you have each day, if its normally two than you know that two chickens are laying and that Wendi is laying Brown eggs.

Thanks; I was thinking that this morning. I did notice last week that I had an egg that was lighter than usual. I will keep a close watch and see if my new girl is laying brown eggs. She is a lavender Ameracauna, surprising that she wouldn't lay blue eggs. :-(

Do not separate them, that just starts the integration process all over again.
New bird may be still stressed from moving and/or may be getting ready to molt and/or just be affected by the short days.

Ameraucana's are not prolific layers, if she is an Ameraucana she should not be laying brown. But EE's are often mis-labeled as Ameraucana, and EE's can lay brown.

Thanks; I thought it was her egg, but it wasn't. She seems to be very happy. She sees me coming and starts "chatting." She and Lucy and roosting side by side and are eating together. Every now and then Lucy gets a little territorial but they seem to be getting along real well. There are a few feathers, but not a lot. She seems to be happy. I put toys in there and I guess it will just take some time. She looks like all the pictures I have seen of Americauna; she is almost lavender, so pretty! :) As long as she is okay, I don't care about the eggs!
