so one of my chickens started jerking her neck in circles around her crop recently.
i've read up on this and most the diagnoses include the chicken being lethargic and not laying eggs? however mine is the most enthusiastic out of the flock and is laying regularly.
she hasn't spat out any liquid, however i saw her peck down and then raise her head as if though she were drinking.
most of these posts say to take her to the vet but none of the vets in my area deal with chickens.
other info: i've had her for a little less than a month, she has no other symptoms, is laying regularly, eats normally.

also! her crop is spongey and large, doesn't empty in the morning.

It sounds like they are adjusting their crops, perhaps after eating something that is not going down or being digested. Long grasses or too large of food, or a slow crop might be possible. Do you provide granite poultry grit to help the gizzard grind up foods? What do you feed them? She could have symptoms of an impacted or sour crop. I would separate her in a shaded wire dog crate with water only, and rechceck her crop later, and again in the morning. If you have electrolytes, you may add some to the water. Once her crop feels smaller, offer a TB of plain yogurt and a little soft scrambled egg.

it's been going on for a couple days but possible, she eats a lot of grass and longer pieces of like salad and things.
we provide them regular chicken food but give them a lot of grass as well.
my little sister feeds them everyday but she doesn't really know what they should eat, so it's possible she gave them too long pieces of grass.
thank you, i will do that! i'll update on the results.

my family tells me that the others will exclude her and be agressive when she returns if we isolate her? is that true?
