I had a cat raid my chicken coop, killing 7 hens and almost killing my rooster. Has anyone else had a problem like that?

sounds awful. sorry for such a great loss. i have never heard of a cat killing chicken? perhaps someone else has?

wow I know they can but mine only are a threat to choicks and juveniles. When they approach my LF chooks the roo or a hen will give them the stink I and charge, the cat runns away lol

I am so sorry that is a lot for a cat to kill. is it a stray? can you catch it and take to a shelter?

so sorry!

Are you sure that the cat is the culprit? Not even my big, tough barn cats are interested in the adult chickens. They have never even bothered my itty-bitty bantams.

I had a feral cat kill my white hen in the fall. I saw him try to drag her out from under the holly tree where she ran to. He got her right at the throat. She was too heavy for him to drag. I've been feeding him all winter. I'm teaching him to go into a box for the food. He will be relocated in the spring.
My cat loves my silkies.

I have 2 outside cats and they are always trying to get into my coops. I didn't want to take any chances. They do love to kill birds. Sorry for your loss but glad to have you here.
