Chicken laid something strange!

The article isn't there anymore. What was it? I found one in my chicken's nest today.

Is this a "lash" egg? I found it yesterday. Although my hens have 6 laying boxes, they all lay in the same box. How do I know which hen layed it? Thanks!

Yes, it does look like a Lash Egg (Salpingitis).
You probably will not be able to tell which hen expelled the material until she begins to show symptoms or you see her expelling more material.

Looks like it, yes. Google lash egg and compare. You can also cut it open and take a pic.

I cut it open and it had what looked like pieces of chicken and slime. I guess it was a lash egg, but all the girls seem healthy. Thanks for your reply.

Keep monitoring for symptoms. For one that starts acting listless and out of the ordinary. Read the links Wyorp posted. I would start her on antibiotics after the first symptoms. Good luck and I hope none of them get sick!

Thanks for the info! Initially, the link to the article didn't work, but this evening it did and was very informative. So far, none are acting listless. I'll also watch for the other symptoms.
