Guys,

I am getting ready to move from a town that allows BYC in Oklahoma to a new location in Seymore Texas. I was wondering if anyone knows the laws or ordinances governing keeping chickens in Seymore.

Even though I am afirst time poster, I read the forums all the time to manager my flock!

Thanks Guys!!

Any ideas where I could look to find out? The municode site doesnt have Seymore listed. Would calling the local police or sherriff help or hurt? Never had to do this before, town I ive in has no problem with flocks in town as long as they arent abused.

Most Texas cities have regulations for within city limits like noise (no boosters) and limits on how many chickens you can have per lot size or just state no livestock period but cities out here are few(think DFW, Waco, Houston, Austin). I can't think that it would hurt to call the municipal office to check before you move. However, Saymore is in a fairly rural area/town so they may not have any regulations on livestock in the city. If worse comes to worse, it's normally easy to buy some property within the incorporated areas of towns so you get the benefits of intown life (water, sewage, trash pickup) but still be outside city limits which means no county regulations.
