Hi everyone,
I'm looking to see if anyone knows what this "weird egg" is and what causes it. It has an elongated shape, no yolk or shell. The one who laid it is a 1 year old Hyline that has laid two of these on the last two days. She was fine prior to this.
Before laying the first "egg", she was acting off, staying away from the rest of the flock and wasn't interested in eating. She recovered after passing it and was back to normal. Today, she seems worse off, although she is eating a bit at the moment.
Her only previous history is having coccidia alwhen she was two weeks old when I got her.
The test of the flock seems to be doing fine. There are 4 other chickens, two of which have been added about 2 weeks ago after a period of quarantine, and everyone seems to get along (just a peck here and there, they are pretty chill girls). Everyone has been preventatively treated for coccidia, mites, worms, lice in the past, and so have the newer girls.
They all get layer feed, and a few treats (watermelon, mealworms) on occasion.
Any ideas or advise? She's my favorite girl and I'm really worried
Thanks!
