What are the best chicken leg bands for keeping track in breeding records?

It depends on what records you want to keep. How complicated or detailed do you want to get? How many chickens are you talking about?

I just use the colored plastic spiral rings but I don’t have that many chickens. I can record which hatch they came out of by the bands I put on their left leg and identify individual chickens by what I put on the right leg.

You can get individually numbered wing bands or leg bands. Toe punching might work for you. What’s best for me is the colored spiral leg bands because I can get the information I need at a glance from a distance and they are cheap. For others that would not do at all.
