I have had chickens as pets for 11 years now. They are my feather baby's . I started out with chickens people gave me .Then i started buying them and hatching there eggs in a incubator . When my chickens started hatching there own eggs i got rid of my incubator . I cant resist buying more been buying Rhode Island reds although i have different ones. This year i bought black sex links February the 28th not sure how to tell how many hens i have though were it has only been four weeks since i purchased them at tractor supply i cant wait to see what they are i am super excited. I cant keep the rooster have to find them homes where they wont end up on someones table.

I love having Rhode Island Reds in my flock too. Sadly one of my reds passed away on Monday, but my other one is turning 9 in April.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens Angela so you have quite a bit of experience what state are in ?

Kentucky and yeah I know what i have learnt over the years but I know that there is alot i can learn. None of my mine have ever been sick so i am not sure i would know what to do if they did get sick. my father in law was like a second dad to me and had raised chickens all his life and taught me alot of what i knew the rest i went to the local library and checked out books
