chicken loving preschool teacher needs your input!

Hello everyone!

I am planning to start my backyard flock this year. I am a complete novice, so bare with me...

I got the crazy idea that it would be super fun to hatch chicks with my class. My director is completely on board and excited.

I am hoping for a basic time line for what we can expect, and look for over the chicks development.

Does anyone have good childrens books they reccomend?

I am looking at the hover bator (with egg turner) because it seems like it would be harder for me to mess up! I also like the very large window.....

any ideas, thoughts (aka wisdom) would be greatly appreciated as I plan this out. Thanks!!!

It will be tons of fun! Hatching chicks in my elementary Science class is a very fond memory of mine.

Google is an excellent resource. You could print pictures of the eggs development each day to show your class and use them to compare your eggs to.

This has lots of books about hatching eggs, and which grade level they would be most appropriate for. I'm sure other will come along with more suggestions. Good luck!
