Hello everyone! Looking forward to being apart of this community 
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm new to chickens and received my babies at the end of April from Murray McMurray Hatchery.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 12 hens and 1 rooster
(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Cochin (3), White Wyandotte (3), Rose Comb Brown Leghorn (3 + 1 rooster), Buff Lace Polish (2), and a Black Minorca.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love their different personalities and habits. One of my favorite things is hanging out in the coop with my babies and interacting with them. I am new to birds in general and am in awe that some of my chickens can show affection. They are amazing creatures.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Exploring the outdoors, gardening, and treasure hunting.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am an environmental scientist working in ecosystem restoration and conservation. I am also active in environmental education and promoting natural resource curiosity in kids, since they will ultimately dictate the future of our environment. I have 10 cats and 3 dogs in addition to my 13 chickens Working hard to grow our petting zoo!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Since receiving my chicken babies, I've conducted several google searches and have always found an answer or at least an idea to consider through this platform. I decided to officially join the community to brainstorm on other thoughts I've had while raising chickens.
