It has been said so many times on here, chicken wire keeps chickens in or out, but it does not keep predators out. Hardware cloth, hardware cloth, hardware cloth -- Mulewagon said it well. Save the chicken wire to keep the chickens out of the garden or flower bed, or to make a small pen inside the coop. And, raccoons can't open padlocks.
