I currently have 5 hens and a rooster. I decided to add large breeds to my flock for more eggs since I have space. I have 23 coming next month. Some will be roosters we're planning to process. My daughter wanted some silkies so of coarse I have to order enough in case we have alot of boys. So I have 12 silkies and 10 bantam easter eggers coming the same week as my large birds. I'm thinking I have a problem! My basement will really be chirping soon! Chicken math is a real thing! 😁

When we first started with chickens I promised my husband I would only get 4. Came home with 7. 3 years later I now have 43. He's since joined me on the dark side.
Hopefully mine will get on board too. Half are bantam size so they only count as about 2 large breed, I figure. At least that's my story and I'm stickin to it. 🤣

It gets you so fast! Started with one duckling and now we have 36, plus two more orders later this spring. 6 eggs in the incubator… Silkies and frizzles will be coming to the feed store and we can’t not get some of those…
We'd be in real trouble if my husband loved them as much as I do. 🤣I know what you mean! It is very hard not to get them from the feed store. I try not to look, but I can hear all those little chirps! 😳😁

Chicken math is real and hubby is half the problem here! 🤣

We were gonna get 3, which turned into 6, oh wait make that 7 on trip 1. A week later we were at 13 on trip 2, and then 16 on trip 3.

This year we have 23 coming in two weeks and 14 (currently) coming in June. I'm still finalizing the additionals for June as they will all be straight run and I need enough to start a breeding project with.
