Deep litter in the run, sand in coop. In spring, run provides all compost I need for veggies and flowers. Throughout growing season, the poo I've scooped from the sand and composted provides all the nutrients the plants need. I sift that compost and apply every 2 weeks. In fall, I load all poo and compostable materials directly in the beds. Turn soil once in early spring, then start the process all over again. Might add that we only buy meat, cheese, coffee, sugar, flour and yeast from the grocery store. All else comes from our gardens. Thank you chickens for keeping us fed!
