Hi All,

I bought what I thought were all pullets. All chicks are just over six weeks old and I am starting to wonder if I had a roo sneak in. Do you think this is some type of barred breed or a male-black sex link (no obvious white on their head when younger)? Would love to know your thoughts!

No sure on breed, but with the telltale red developing on comb and wattles is probably a cockerel.

I agree, he looks like a cockerel. He also looks similar to my cuckoo maran cockerel but mine had the white dot on his head as a baby.

Above is him about a month ago, and below was 2 days ago.

Maybe yours is a blue cuckoo maran? I've heard their bars are less defined, just my guess
