hi one of my marans looks like shes started to molt shes lost alot of feathers and all her tail and big wing feathers. This is the first bird i have had to molt the others are young. I have a few questions. How long dose it take and when will she start laying again. Also how old would she be i belive its her first molt thanks joe

Usually their first hard molt is around 18 months, but they generally molt about once a year. It lasts around 3 or 4 months; this varies. Some vitamins and protein supplement will help a little. She'll start laying again sometime around when she is through.

I supplement their crumbles with calf manna during the molt for extra protein... and the only treat I give them is BOSS... they need protein to make more feathers... then more eggs.
