Hello everyone, My name is Michelle , thanks Im excited to join the group, I have had 4 chickens and one rooster for about a year, we got them as babies, now grown and one of them has hatched chickes for the second time, her first go round was not good one hatced and died, and the other dried in the shell, she then started right up brooding again and now has hatched two babies, one is doing great she is caring for it and the other she is neglecting , Im not sure what to do so Im reaching out to yall , thanks again

Hello Michelle and Welcome to BYC. I'm glad that you have joined this community. What ever kind of brooder you can make put the ignored chick in it and take care of it as a surrogate mom. Supply starter/grower feed and fresh clean water often. If its mom detected a problem that problem will most like show up and then it can be dealt with as needed.

Hello Michelle and welcome to BYC! :frow

Sorry your broody is neglecting a chick, there could be something wrong with it. I would remove it and look it over to see if anything is wrong. Maybe keep it in your brooder, give it some poultry cell today and if it perks up later today, then you might try to stuff it back under her early tomorrow morning before it gets light. If she still rejects it, you will need to brood it yourself.

Hiya Michelle, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

The advice above is good. If you raise it yourself, it will cry up a storm for about two days.

If momma had a few you could steal one of hers to be with it, but since she only has one, that's not going to work. We've had orphans twice. We have a brooder in our livingroom and we leave the TV playing most of the time on cartoons. We're in our 60's, so honest, we don't watch. ☺️
