(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes! We got our first 6 chicks in April 2023.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 6 hens
(3) What breeds do you have? 3 Easter Eggers, 1 Welsumer, 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 Buff Brahma
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? So far it has just been very interesting to learn about them, I find it fascinating that so much of it is just instinct on their part (going in the coop at night, roosting, foraging, etc) and they just all have their own little personalities.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I'm a soccer mom so basically running my kids around to games & practices
I also like cooking & trying new recipes!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My partner & I have been together for 17 years. We have 2 daughters together, 13 &10. I am a stay-at-home momma! We also just recently adopted 2 kittens that have been such a joy after losing our other pets to old age within the last few years.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Over the last 4 months I have done MANY searches trying to learn as much as I can about raising chickens, often daily I think of something else, and so many of my searches have led me to BYC! I've already learned so much from browsing the forums so I figured it was time to join!
