I am a "chicken Mom" for 1 year now. We get sudden below zero winter days & above 90 late Spring/Summer days. I had ALOT to learn. I love reading ideas for keeping my girls as comfortable and happy as possible. For Winter I've learned: follow temps & wind chills, use a temp controlled heater base for water, shovel winter paths in the run & thrown down some hay on it. We live in Central Maine. There are 11 of us & we are Rhode Island Reds. We love our suet cages and soda bottles (with holes) wired onto the run fence for treats! (cabbage, lettuce, and cucumbers; in warm weather frozen blocks of squash & berries). Frozen gallon jugs of water cool us off nicely when it is above 80 (they say it will be the next 3 days here!) Looking forward to all your good vibes!
