Chicken mortality problems

If I got a brooder heater plate instead of changing the box, would that be better? I’ve seen that they maybe contain heat better than the heat lamp does. I could just get a bigger box two just wondering which option you think is best.

I have never used a brooder plate with chicks this young, so I'll have to defer to someone who has. I use a heat lamp and stock tank.

Thanks for the sympathies, as well. I feel bad about this and wanna do what I can to stop it.

It may just be that the chicks you got had a rough start. Tractor Supply is kind of known for not taking great care of the chicks and selling sick birds.

A couple other thoughts:
What type of bulb are you using in the heat lamp?
Have you been regularly checking for pasty butt?
