Chicken Nest And Run Ideas Needed

Well i have looked on the plan page and did not see a plan for using pallet for the floor so anyone have some ideas to build a chicken house and run for 8 bantam silkies.

My son built a duck house for me using pallets. What he did for the floor was to take apart one pallet and use the slats to make a solid piece for the floor There are small openings between the slats but that is good for cleaning He then used the pallets to frame out the house and roof and used pieces of spare plywood for the sides and roof. You could also use the same idea to build the walls from the pallets. alittle bit of space between the boards wont hurt as long as its very small. Here in Florida it makes for ventilation lol Hope this helps Micki

Palates rock for coops. Its pretty easy. Ok your going to need 8 palates of the same size. You will need some dry wall screws and a power screw driver (most parents will be ok with this I think. I would let me kids use one at least) You will also need scrap lumber or siding, 4 large hinges, a latching mechanism, a 4x8 sheet of ply wood, some roofing materials and a scrap of lenolium flooring. For the run your going to need more scrap lumber or PVC and some hardware cloth. OR you can look for an old dog run. Now what you need to do first is go post on craigslist or freecycle and find these items. Please don't tell anyone how old you are and get an adults help picking up your stuff. Building a palate coop is easy.. Now go start scrounging and be safe, ok kiddo?
