Chicken Newb in AZ

Hi all, just joined the forum as I am looking to add some chickens to my growing zoo (4 dogs, 3 rabbits and 5 chinchillas)...

I've never had chickens before, but a friend has some and I've gotten eggs from him, and since then I'm sold on having my own egg supply!

I've been trying to research as much as possible before picking up anything, and I am trying to decide if I am going to list my house and find some larger property up off Carefree Highway. I recently discovered that I can have chickens, even with my HOA, so if I don't move I'll need to get permission from one neighbor before I can start building my coop.
