chicken newbie and lovin' it!

How long do we need to leave the heat lamp on? Most of our 12 chicks are about 7 weeks old and it's getting down to about 35 at night. Do we switch it out for a regular light bulb?

. Defiantly don't switch it out for a regular bulb. I would advise just leaving it on all night if it's still in the 30s

If they are fully feathered and in a protected coop, they should no longer need heat unless it gets much colder than they are used to.

Hi and from Ohio. So glad you joined. At 7 weeks old, you should still use the heat lamp if it goes below 50-60 degrees.
