Just getting started with my chicken journey and looking forward to learning from the group! I live in the Charlotte NC area and will be hopefully soon be starting a DIY coop for the chicks I preordered for the spring

It's good that you are planning the coop before you get them. That way you have time to build it to be able to keep out any predator's that you might have in your area.

Be sure to visit the coop and run forum to get the guidelines on how to properly design, size and construct a coop. I would work hard to have that finished before the chicks arrive so you can brood them directly in the coop using a brooder plate. They will thrive that way!
