Hello all!
I really don't know where to begin so I will start with the questions listed for us newbies at the welcome post
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? yes/this summer 10 hen chicks and 1 rooster chick from the feed store
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 10 as our rooster was killed by dogs day after christmas
(3) What breeds do you have? barred rock--we love them!
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? friends and fellow chicken lovers on my homeschool loop
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? reading, hunting, playing,
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are a family of 6. mom, dad, 3 girls 16,12,8, and one boy 6, We also have one dog, 2 rats, 1 chinchilla, 1 guinea pig, 10 hens and NOW TODAY 2 baby chicks we hatched. I am a stay home/home school mom who is also a bookkeeper and an independent consultant with The Pampered Chef. Dad is a building Contractor and a reserve deputy with our county. Kids are BUSY will all sorts of activities.
Thanks for such a great website. It has been very helpful as we've just started this chicken journey. It has been extremely helpful as we wanted to see if we could get offspring from our beloved rooster--he was a beaute!
Now I have to go stare at the chicks for another hour or so ...
