Chicken not coming out of egg

We have a egg with a chicken where the head of the chicken has almost come out, but its been like that for 12 hours already. I slightly cracked it to make it easier to come out but it seems like the chicken is too weak or stuck to the egg. What should we do?

Well in situations like these there is no clear what to do. Because it has been twelve hours I might suggest that you SLOWLY begin to break pieces of the shell off. Work carefully and slowly and if you see blood then stop for a few hours and then begin again in the same careful manner. Assisted hatches do not always live, however this sounds like an emergency situation. Good Luck!

sounds like the little fellow could be "shrink wrapped," from low humidity at hatch - you could moisten around the opening with a finger dipped in water

Thanks for the advice I slowly broke off the shell, but now part of the egg shell is stuck on her. I think some chicks have actually eaten off the shell. Now she looks like a regular chicken Thanks again!!!
