New question for all the experienced folks out there. We have 4 ducks and a bunch of chickens. Our female duck has had nests in the past but no luck on hatching. Something always finds her nest. Ducks don't go in house at night with chickens. Now mama duck has dug out a nest in the middle of chicken house floor. She is tame but not tame enough to stay on nest while I gather chicken eggs. So now a small hen has taken her nest. I have to remove hen every morning so the duck can go lay her eggs. I don't know what to do...And there is no way I think she would go for being shut up in house overnight with chickens anyway. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Maybe play a Radio to keep the predators away from the coop area. I live back in the swamp, and I lost 25 Marans in 2 nights to minks in 2011. I caught the mink in a foot trap and killed it, and nailed it to a nearby tree, so all the others could get a good smell. I also added a radio playing 24/7/365 in the barn. I can hear it about 150 feet in all directions. Wild animals don't like the sound. I also added 10 American Buff Geese, and lots of lighting so the hens could see predators before they attack. . So far no attacks since.
