This coming Tuesday March 4, 2014 our city council will consider an ordinance allowing Goshenites to have up to 6 hens. One city council member said to me "I am interested in hearing how hens will be good for Goshen." It wasn't hostile. He's undecided and wants what is best for our fair city. I've been focusing on how it will be good for me and the rest of us chicken lovers. I also have answers to likely questions about how they'll do no harm. But how would you answer his question about how hens will be good for Goshen?

How is a city park or zoo good for the well being of a city? It's recreation and the later educational. How is a cities image improved by not allowing chickens? It's not.

In allowing only hens there are only positive aspects. Mental well being for citizens who partake in the recreation of poultry keeping, educational to children and good for the image of a city that allows them. Areas newly allow chickens are saying they are in touch with their citizens desires and are rational with a healthy scoop of common sense when amending ordinances and government.
