Can anyone help, one of our chickens has passed a large ball shaped rubbery object covered in skin it is about the size of an egg. They stopped laying about a month ago as they are moulting but other than that seem healthy and happy, any ideas?????

There are a bunch of posts about this type of thing. Sounds like its not common but does happen. Keep searching the older posts. THere are some CRAZY photos.

Good luck.

This is just a "bad egg", could be a lack of calcium or the fact that they are coming out of a moult and starting to lay again.

My WR hen laid weird shelless eggs for a couple days when she started laying again (after raising chicks). I think they just have to get into the swing of things again.

I haven't had this happen, but I do remember some posts about this from a while back. I believe someone said it was part of the hens reproductive tissue/tract that gets passed when laying an egg. Use the "search" option at the top of the page and you will find plenty I am sure.
