Hi I wasn't sure where to post this question so i apologise if its in the wrong place. Ok i was just wondering if it's normal for chickens to do huge poo's? sounds an odd question i know but there poo has been pretty much the same since i had them and then this morning one of my chickens done a monster sized poo, if i hadn't been there when she had done it i probably would have thought it was the cat lol... is this quite normal or is there anything that causes this? one very over cautious chicken owner

Another possibility is that one of your hens is broody. A broody will hold her poo while she is on the nest and on her usual once a day trip off the nest for food, water and "relief", will let go a monstrous foul smelling poo.

What about little poos? I found a whole lot of small little poops under the roost this morning when cleaning. I know that they weren't hungry when they went to bed because they had a huge bedlunch. It has been hot here the last couple of days, maybe that would explain part of it? Also, the number of bugs, etc has dimished but they are free range and eat lots of greens.

I get poos of all sizes, shapes and colors but I've noticed they generally do a big one first thing in the morning. After that it's everything

I spend a lot of time hosing things down.

None of my hens have started laying yet although they are sqatting and one is singing in the afternoons lol.. and it was a morning poo she let it rip as soon as i let them out of the coop
