Hello,

I have 4 chickens and I'm learning as fast as I can. What consistency should poop be? My chicks go back and forth between solid and chunky liquid. They are 8 weeks old this week and are a bit cramped in their dog kennel and I'm working quickly to get the big coop up and running. They are on an organic grower. They free range for part of the day, but now that it's hot (110), they really like to sit there and be cool.

If the runs are not normal (brownish color), I'd like advice on this situation. I should state that I only like to use antibiotics or chemical wormers as a last resort, and seeing as my birds appear healthy, albeit hot, I'm not in a rush to use such things.

Thank you!!

my chicks poo like that too. I started putting Apple Cider Vinegar in the water and every other day I give them a little plain yogurt. This seems to help it alot. Do you have grit available for them?

A most EXCELLENT poo guide!!

Are they behaving/looking like they are sick? If they are it would be best to repost in a separate thread in the emergencies thread.
If they are acting like chickens, eating, drinking, etc; then I wouldn't worry about the poop too much.
Did you look at the poop pix posted earlier, on this thread?
Here it is again.

Chicken poop can look very different, and still be normal.
