Llamas protect goats and dogs protect sheep, well I was wondering if there was anything that protects chicken flocks. I heard that Guineas can be good for this?? My dog keeps getting into my chicken coop, he just rips through the chicken wire. He doesn't kill them but he chases them a lot. He's honed in on one particular chicken and i'm afraid one day it will be more than just chasing. What protector do you suggest, if any?

Actually, I know this isn't what you're asking, but a remote-controlled shock collar works very well.

Guineas would raise a ruckus but they fall prey to the same predators.

A dog would take time to train.

What you need to do now is put up some hardware cloth so your current dog or any other preditor can't get through the chicken wire and kill them OR put up elec fencing.

Good luck with your chicks.

I was thinking electric wire fencing around the chicken yard, but I have children. 3 boys to be exact. As much as I try I cannot be everywhere at once and I'm worried that they will get shocked. I'm sure once they got shocked once they would avoid the fence but still. My 3 yr old has a birth injury and can't feel hot or pain or cold in his left arm, i can see it now him running in with his left arm smoking.
