Chicken Runs

Is it really needed for chickens to have a run if they are free ranged during the day and in a coop at night?

I think it is and this is why. If you need to contain them there is always the pen and that way they are still outside. Right now I am having daytime predator problems (coyote)and they are in lockdown for the time being. They hate it because it sure is not the green grass of outside but that is the way it is right now. I remember thinking the same thing because they would be out all day and then into the coops at night but I am glad I did put the run up. Just a little insurance should you need it.

Hope they get sprung soon (and the coyote moves on)
