Chicken Saddle Frightening Hen

I have a little bantam hen that is getting broken feathers & raw looking "shoulders" on her wings from rooster. Got her a saddle to protect her & She freaked out when i put it on her! She ran like it was attacking her & kept hiding under things. Felt so bad for her I haven't read anything about chickens being afraid of saddles. Is there anything to help her not be terrified of it?

The saddle may be too tight. I put a saddle on a hen that the saddle was too big. It would flop over her head and then she started walking backwards trying to get away from it. I have tried to walk chickens on a leash and they try to run away from it.
