I'm building my chicken coop around a couple of young apple trees that will be shade for the chickens. I will also add a couple of rosemary bushes but I'd like to add a couple of bushes preferably evergreen
( I'm in zone 7B ) for a bit of cover from overhead predators. I am still getting netting for the top but thought the chickens would like the bushes as well. I need ideas for bushes that aren't toxic for my hens.

I have a run in between fruit trees too. The run is 1,8 -2 meters high, with very strong netting on top.

Inside are a few berry bushes and a Portuguese Laurel with big dark green leaves. It’s perfect for deep and easy to trim. I trim the laurel 2x a year.

The chickens love to hide underneath when its very warm and sunny.

Do check if Portuguese Laurels are good in your climate/ on your soil.

if you select an evergreen from the local flora that has flowers or leaves or fruit that they can eat safely, they will; and if it upsets them, they won't, they'll just use it for cover and shade.
