Chicken screeching and jumping around as if in pain

My chicken just started doing this, about 20mins ago she was out in her pen when she started screeching as if something was giving her pain. She literally broke out of her coop, and ran up to the door. I let her in thinking an animal was attacking her but there was nothing out side. Once in she would jump as if she was in pain every so often, and when she wasn't doing that she looked on edge. Some one said they noticed something red coming out of her rear end, but when I looked nothing was there. Please help, I'm worried.

I've seen the red thing, and it looks like what I believe a prolapse to be. From what I understand you're supposed to give them a warm bath, and then treat the area with prep h. Is there anything else I need to do for her?

How old is she?? If she is about to lay her first egg, they can get quite worked up. very noisy and almost frantic......kinda scary if you've never layed an egg before. Not sure what the heck is going on back there.

Oh she's laid plenty of times before. I'm like 98% sure she has a prolapse, which if I understand correctly is the equivalent of a hemmroid for chickens. She's my first longterm bird and I really don't know what to do in this situation. Other threads on the topic have said to give her a warm bath and put prep H on it. The problem is though I don't really know how to use the H on a bird, tried my best though. Now I have no idea what to do.

pretty clear instruction, make sure prep H is without pain killer - very important

If you have any Honey you can smother her backside with it and try to tease her prolapse back inside her -it takes a lot of time - she should also be in a dark place where she can rest and relax.
