Can anyone recommend good resources for sexing chickens of any/all breeds? I've found lots of old wive's tales but not many things that are reliable. Of course I know that one can tell for sure when the chick starts crowing or laying eggs, but I'm really curious about other ways to differentiate sexes. Some of you folks here are really good at it and I'm curious to know what you guys are looking for.

I would like to know as well, I bought my chicks from a lady who rubbed thier foreheads to feel for the comb..is this a way anyone has experience with? I'll find out in time, but I don't want to fall in lvoe with roosters and have to give them up...

I recently picked out 8 day olds from a farmer and I used this method. They are 3 weeks old today and I'm still waITING TO SEE IF i WAS RIGHT.

My understanding is that feather sexing only works on certain strains of chickens that are bred for that trait.

Gosh I hope the partridge rocks and blue laced red wyandottes are breeds that fall into that group because I'm hoping I got only hens.
