Hello Everyone,
My chicken went into shock after an opossum was found in our coop a few nights ago. In the morning I placed the chicken in a large tote with food and water. However, I noticed it was not drinking or eating. So for that first day-day and half I had to force feed it and water it. I found wetting some bread and then dipping the wet bread in its crumble feed worked the best. Fast forward to yesterday afternoon I noticed that she was eating and drinking on her own and walking around inside the tote. So I brought her outside to the yard where my other 3 chickens were. They immediately ran up to her, but I did not allow them to get close enough to peck at her. I put out some wet cat food and they all shared from it with no problems. However, after about 10-15 minutes they started to chase her around a little. It was getting dark so it didn't last too long. The three went into the coop with no issues, but my recovering chicken just stood there lost, not knowing what to do. So I placed in there and no problems. This morning my my 3 healthy chickens had come down from their coop, but my shocked chicken was still inside sitting on the root I had left her on. I brought her down and took her to where the normal feeder I have for them was. Again she just stood there lost. She followed me outside the run and into the yard where the rest of the chickens were. I went inside and started getting ready for my day. However, when I looked outside my back window I could see the chickens chasing her around the yard. They were not pecking on her, but they did have her pinned up against my shed wall. I went outside and placed her back into the tote. she saw the feeder and waterer that I was using in there and began to eat and drink. She will stay in there all day and not even try to jump out. The tote is only about 18-20" tall. Should I continue to keep her isolated? When and how do you all recommend I try again to integrate her into the flock? Should I get 1 other chicken from the flock and place it inside the tote with her in hopes its "2vs2" when I let them out again? Your help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Either put her in a wire crate in the run, or put up a temporary wire fence to give her a separate space where they can all see each other, but not touch. Feed both groups along the fence so they are eating "together". When everyone is basically ignoring each other then try putting her with the others for supervised periods to see how it goes. After any kind of attack birds can take awhile to feel safe in their environment again, that is very common, and if she's acting odd then others can sometimes attack, they sense weakness. There is no real way to predict how long it will take, it could be one day, or a week, it just takes as long as it takes.
